PPP: EXPANDING ON SIDE HUSTLE/PERSONAL BRANDING

During todays talk, Alec introduced us to several designers who accelerated there personal University briefs into larger jobs when they graduated and eventually these projects turned into their full time jobs. For instance, The Pop Up Agency are a studio of 2 who decided as a University project to try and solve briefs within 48 hours in their spare time (on the weekend). After graduating, they continued this as a full time job, now charging up to £40k for 2 days work. They have shown that you can turn a passion project into a full time job and enjoy it.

An idea of mine that I could progress with into me extended practice module and later after graduation. It was in regards to the fashion editorial collaboration that I was doing. I was incredibly surprised to figure out how far I have gotten with that project so far on no budget. using the studio space, equipment, hiring models, having the garments made uniquely for the brief and art directing the whole thing has currently cost Zak and I absolutely nothing. This is something I might like to emphasise on when writing up about this project to prove what is possible with no budget, in this case a 20+ person collaboration.

After completing this project I might send copies of this editorial out to potential employers to show what I have done on zero budget. This kind of project and it's size could possibly cost up to thousands in the real industry unless you have the right networks and state of mind. I might like to push other large scale projects further and aim to complete them on no budget at all. This could be my selling point.
